InstantDip Silver Cleaner was developed in 1946 to clean the vast quantity of stored silver items in museums and other repositories of fine silver following World War II. The method developed was an InstantDip formula that could be used as a dip, which would be non abrasive and quick acting while being user friendly. Museums in need of putting their valuable silver back on display quickly adopted InstantDip as the product of choice for cleaning and refurbishing severely tarnished silver items. InstantDip has been a retail and professional product for over 50 years. InstantDip was certified by the United States Testing Company and the York Research Corporation as an effective, easy to use, non-abrasive, quick acting silver cleaner. Following the development of the InstantDip formula for Silver, InstantDip Fine Jewelry Cleaner, InstantDip Costume Jewelry Cleaner, InstantDip Jewelry Cleaning and Polishing Cloths and most recently the InstantDip Copper and Brass Cleaner were developed.
